Our spacious 1,500 sq. ft. rooftop patio offers more than just a seat in the sun—it delivers a full sensory experience. The story of Tavern on the Point begins with a family legacy. Brothers John and Joe Capesius, inspired by their father’s service to the people of Chicago, they had a shared dream: to create a space that brought all people together, while honoring all first responders, well honoring everyone with deep roots in the community.  The boys have a passion for hospitality, they envisioned more than just a Tavern—they wanted a gathering place. A destination where neighbors, friends, and visitors could feel like regulars from the very first visit. Together, the Capesius family brought that vision to life with a goal of operating the best community tavern/restaurant on the planet.

That vision extends to every corner of our space—from the thoughtful design to the people who bring it to life each day. Executive Chef Edwin Esquivel leads our kitchen with creativity and heart, crafting a menu that honors elevated comfort food while introducing bold new flavors. Whether it’s a stacked, smash, burger, fresh seasonal entrée, or game-day favorite, every dish is made with intention. And of course, it’s all complemented by a bar program that highlights local beers, carefully selected wines, and handcrafted cocktails designed to elevate any occasion.
